Bio

I’m Alejandra Martinez, a Journalism student at the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to my Journalism degree, I plan on majoring in Radio Television and Film with a minor in English. I’ve always been in love with stories, whether they were told before bedtime, in a book, or shown on a big screen didn’t matter. In addition to loving other people’s stories, I would also find myself telling my own stories through many mediums. Because of this persistent passion and appreciation for storytelling, writing about film seemed like a truly natural fit.

My interest in Journalism really began in high school. It was there where I began to discover my passion. I started as a staff writer, and eventually began co-writing a music column. One of my reviews even received a superior rating in a state clip contest in 2011. In addition to reviews, I would also write blogs, stories, and do occasional photography for the paper. I’ve had some experience with audio and video production as well as editing (to see some of my recent multimedia work, please click the 'Works' tab in the navigation bar).

Although film is a wonderful storytelling format, I also hope to write about literature and music. Other goals outside of Journalism include writing original work through both screenplays and novels as well as doing freelance and artistic photography. In addition to the journalistic pursuits I’ve mentioned, my interests include reading, art, writing, fashion, and pop culture.
